She saw him coming towards her on the street. She thought of crossing the street or darting into the nearest doorway, but it was too late. He had seen her and was coming her way. Her heart was a jackhammer in her chest as they said hello. [ Read: Distance Can’t Keep Us Apart – True Story. ]

He asked her if she was seeing anyone. She smiled slightly and shook her head no. She looked down when he asked her why she had not started dating again. She felt the tears sting her eyes and burn in her throat. What could she say? Should she tell him of the many nights she had spent crying? Should she say something flip and sarcastic? She shrugged her shoulders and he sighed.

“I do not want to get over you. I do not want to stop feeling what I feel for you. I may be a fool, but I never want to not love you”, her words came out in a rush. She looked down quickly, imagining the look of pity on his face.

He gently took her face in his hands and she looked into his eyes and what she saw made her heart skip a beat. Tenderness in his eyes caused her tears to spill over her cheeks. [ Read: Just Another Love Story – Based on Real Life Experience ]

His voice trembled and his eyes glittered as he whispered, “I do not want to get over you either. I do not want to ever not be in love with you”. She held her breath as his lips touched hers. As he wrapped her in his arms, she said a thankful prayer that her ending was a happy one after all.
